With the 10th anniversary of Moyes' appointment as Everton manager looming, the Blues boss admitted Saturday's success bore uncanny similarities to his first victory in March 2002.
That day the Toffees defeated Fulham 2-1 and Moyes explained: "Ten years ago, you know, there was something very similar when I came in, except we got a goal very early that day.

"Today, in a strange way, was a lot similar. I said to the players that their effort and commitment and what they did tonight did the club proud. We want to play better, but overall the result was a great result for us."

The victory means that Everton now lie just two points behind neighbours Liverpool in the Premier League table, with an opportunity to overhaul the Reds at Anfield tomorrow. But Moyes insists he isn't setting any targets, despite an unbeaten run which now stretches to nine matches.

"I still think if we finish in the top 10 this year it will be a really good result," he explained. "With Tottenham tonight and with Liverpool and Arsenal and the games we've got coming up it will still be really hard to finish in the top half of the league.

"We've got players coming back and a wee bit of momentum, but those players coming back were the ones who weren't performing in the early part of the season so while we're saying, 'great they're coming back,' in truth they were part of the boys who weren't getting the results in the early part of the season.
"We sort of dug in a little bit and tried to find a way of getting results, which we have done.

"Now we're getting results I'm complaining because I want the performances to be better. I'm satisfied with the result today, but not the performance. We got a great result but I think we can play much better than that, certainly in the second half."

"We contributed partly to our own downfall at the start of the second half. Every time we got the ball we gave it away and gave Tottenham encouragement to keep coming forward and throwing men forward.
"In the end
